hysterical

I have been reading about the increase in tickets to NYC bike riders in the recent weeks. I am sure it is two fold, one the weather is nicer so more people are out on bikes. 2 most motorist actually dislike bicycles. I have been on bikes in many cities and I can attest to the fact that most traffic/city planning is not designed with two wheels in mind. It can be a pain in the ass to ride. I have also been guilty of running the red lights and not strictly obeying every rule of the road. However I have also been on the other side of that equation where cars have endangered my life for what seems to be no other reason than 'sport'. I can not see an easy solution to this clash of cultures in most cities. I actually have to side with the cars on this one. Most cities are designed with them in mind, lights are timed for their speed. Distances and sight lines are based on their dimensions. If you ride and break the rules you should be ticketed. It is the only fair way to deal with it. Same rules should apply to cars, no more warnings, you violate the rules and get caught tickets.
